Srinagar: Students of Class VI from Government Boys Middle School (BMS) Arampora, Sopore, have earned widespread appreciation after showcasing their innovative โ€œIRT Globeโ€ (Innovative Redesign of Traditional Globe) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Monday.

The project, developed under the mentorship of Dr. Sufeena Bano, impressed experts for its creative approach to learning. During the special demonstration, Prof. Shah, Head of the Department of Nano-Physics at NIT, praised the young learners and their mentor, calling the model โ€œa brilliant example of transforming classroom concepts into meaningful innovations.โ€ Both the teacher and students were honored with recognition for their efforts.

Unlike a conventional globe, which represents Earthโ€™s surface with latitude and longitude lines, the IRT Globe introduces a dynamic sliding surface mechanism. This feature allows students to visualize the Earthโ€™s internal layers, crust, mantle, and core, making geography lessons more engaging and experiential.

Dr. Bano said the recognition has motivated the children to believe in their creativity. โ€œIt proves that innovation is not bound by age, and our students are capable of thinking beyond textbooks,โ€ she noted.

The initiative has not only highlighted the talent of rural Kashmiri students but also set an example of how project-based learning can spark curiosity and problem-solving skills at an early stage.
