Blood Donation cum Drug de-addiction Camp Organised At Govt Degree College Handwara

Handwara: Indian Red Cross Society Kupwara in collaboration with GMC Handwara, 21 RR and GDC Handwara on Wednesday organized a blood donation cum drug de-addiction camp at Government Degree College Handwara.

The camp was inaugurated by Principal GDC Handwara Professor Mohammad Shafi, Superintendent Associate Hospital GMC Handwara Dr Nissar Ahmad and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.

Dozens of youths including Army personnel donated their blood to save precious life in future. A maximum of 48 pints of blood were received by Blood Bank Associate Hospital GMC Handwara.

Dr Rehana, Consultant Psychiatry Associate Hospital Hospital GMC Handwara, on the occasion said that the public were made aware about signs and symptoms of drug addiction so that they could identify early onset of addiction and appropriate intervention. “They were also made aware of de-addiction facilities which could be life saving for severe addicts.”

They participants were urged to spread awareness among the society that any disease/addiction is treatable with the right medical attention and those addicts and their families should not shy away from seeking medical help to get rid of drug addiction.
