Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief expelled senior leader Satish Bhargav for “hate speech” and “unparliamentary language” during an election meeting.

The meeting was held in Poonch district, part of the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency where PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference’s Mian Altaf are contesting.

Bhargav’s expulsion was ordered on the recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee chairman, who cited a video of Bhargav making threatening and unparliamentary remarks.

Meanwhile, the PDP lodged a complaint alleging “intimidation tactics” by the BJP, accusing it of threatening Pahari Muslims to vote for the Apni Party candidate.

The PDP has forwarded a video of Bhargav’s speech and demanded an investigation into the matter. (KL)
