Mumbai: The nineteenth season of the popular reality show Bigg Boss concluded on Saturday night with television actor Gaurav Khanna lifting the winnerโs trophy after more than three months of high-voltage drama, shifting alliances, and headline-making controversies. Khanna beat co-finalist Farrhana Bhatt, who emerged as the runner-up, to claim the title along with a cash prize of โน50 lakh.
Hosted by Salman Khan, the season began on August 24 with 18 contestants from varied backgrounds, including singers, influencers, actors and comedians. The finale featured five finalists, Farrhana Bhatt, Tanya Mittal, Amaal Malik, Pranit More, and Gaurav Khanna, following a fiercely contested final week.
Khanna, widely praised for his calm, composed and strategic gameplay, maintained a low-drama approach throughout the season. His measured responses in conflicts, consistent performance in tasks, and ability to navigate interpersonal tensions without resorting to theatrics earned him a strong support base. Salman Khan had earlier referred to him as the โsuperstar of TV,โ noting his dignified presence in the house.
The finale night saw star-studded performances, emotional family reunions and a last-minute voting round between the top contenders. According to the showโs makers, the final vote count swung decisively in Khannaโs favour, sealing his victory.
The season, however, was not without controversies. Days before the finale, contestant Ashnoor Kaur was removed from the show after she hit fellow housemate Tanya Mittal with a wooden plank during a heated task, a direct violation of the show’s no-violence rule. Salman Khan condemned the incident, calling it โunacceptableโ and โunfair to contestants previously penalized for far less.โ Kaur later stated that the act was unintentional and expressed regret over the episode.
Farrhana Bhatt from Srinagar Jammu and Kashmir, who finished second, emerged as a strong fan favourite in the final weeks, with her trajectory marked by resilience and a growing public following. Comedian Pranit More secured the third spot.
With the win, Khanna, already known for major television roles, is expected to see a surge in new opportunities across TV and OTT platforms. The seasonโs end also reignites conversations around on-screen aggression, mental health, and the pressures of reality television.
