Army’s 28 RR Kickstarts Maulana Anwar Shah Memorial Volleyball Tournament in Lolab

Kupwara: Army’s 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) on Tuesday kickstarted a volleyball tournament on the name of revered Islamic scholar Maulana Anwar Shah Memorial Volleyball Tournament in scenic Lolab Valley, Kupwara district.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation from local youth, with teams competing in a series of exciting matches. Maj Sikandar Rajasthani, the Warnaw Coy Commander, played a significant role in overseeing the event and ensuring its smooth conduct. Riyaz Malik and Nasir Ahmad also contributed significantly to the coordination efforts, ensuring active community participation. Their combined efforts were pivotal in making the tournament a grand success.

Speaking on the occasion, an Army official highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting positive engagement and nurturing local talent. โ€œThis tournament is not just about sports, itโ€™s about bringing people together, building trust, and providing opportunities for our youth to shine,โ€ the official remarked.

Lolab Valley, apart from its breathtaking natural beauty, holds immense cultural significance as the birthplace of Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri, an iconic Islamic scholar. This tournament celebrated his legacy and reinforced the valley’s tradition of harmony and resilience.

Local residents expressed their gratitude for the initiative, appreciating the efforts of the 28 RR and the coordinators, Riyaz Malik and Mohammad Iqbal. โ€œSuch events bring hope and positivity to our region and the youth need these opportunities to showcase their skills and channel their energy constructively,โ€ said a community elder.

The Maulana Anwar Shah Memorial Volleyball Tournament stands as a testament to the spirit of the people of Lolab Valley and the collaborative efforts to nurture peace and progress in North Kashmir.
