Army man injured in Sopore encounter succumbs, operation underway

Srinagar: An Army man who sustained critical injuries in an ongoing gunfight at Zaloora area of North Kashmir’s Sopore, has succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

News agency GNS quoted a top police officer as saying that one army soldier succumbed to his injuries after having received a critical bullet wound during exchange of gunfire at encounter site.

“So far there is no reports of any militant killed in the ongoing operation at Gujarpatti area of Zaloora”, he added.

Yesterday, a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area after receiving specific input about the presence of some militants.

As the joint team of forces zeroed towards the hideout, the hiding militants fired on the joint team, which was retaliated, triggering off a gunfight.
