Army Hails Synergy With Police, BSF After Successfully Foiling Separate Infiltration Bids in Machil & Tangdhar

Kupwara: In wake of successful foiling of two infiltration bids along Line of Control in Tangdhar and Machil, army on Thursday hailed synergy it enjoys with Jammu Kashmir Police and Border Security Forces.

“In a significant operation, the Indian Army successfully eliminated three terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhal and Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads a statement issued to Alfaaz – The Words.

“On 28 August, credible inputs were received from intelligence agencies, which was further corroborated by J&K Police regarding likely infiltration attempts from these areas. Based on the inputs, troops of Indian Army, JKP and BSF laid ambushes on likely infiltration routes in both Machhal and Tangdhar sector.”

“At approx 2000h, the ambush teams in the Machhal sector observed movement of terrorists through thick foliage, approx 600 meters on the own side of LoC. The infiltrating terrorists were challenged and immediately an intense exchange of fire ensued,” the statement reads.

“Meanwhile, in the Tangdhar sector also, at approx 2100h, there was an exchange of fire between security forces and infiltrating terrorists approx 100 meters on the own side of LoC. Both the sectors witnessed heavy exchange of fire.”

“In this firefight, two terrorists were eliminated in the Machhal sector and one in the Tangdhar sector,” the statement reads.

“This successful intelligence-based operation is yet another example of the close synergy between Indian Army, JKP & BSF and also underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to ensure the sanctity of the LoC and the robust counter infiltration posture towards maintaining peace in Kashmir Valley,” the statement further reads.
