Srinagar: Ghulam Nabi Sofi, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-i-Istiqlaal has disassociated himself and his party from All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) or (M) or any other group with the relevant ideology.
In his statement issued to the press, Sofi made it clear that, “We continued our struggle despite all odds but neither APHC (G) nor (M) has been able to meet out the expectations of the common masses. They failed at every step to represent the people’s aspirations and sentiments.”
“I have long before severed my ties with separatist ideology and today I officially denounce it,” reads the statement, as per Alfaaz – The Words.
Mr Sofi, a known separatist face emphasised that, “the name of our organisation or my personal name may not be used by any person, henceforth, with regards to any factions of the Hurriyat”. Any such attempt may attract severe legal consequences for any such person or organisation”, he added.
“I am a true and committed citizen of India and believe on Indian constitution,” he said, adding, “neither in past I have been associated with any act that is detrimental to the interests of India nor do I or my organisation intend to be a part of any group or forum which will work or has been working against India in future”.
The fresh dissociation is fourth of its type after three other outfits – Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (DPM) and Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement, Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-i-Istiqamat – announced their decision to give up on Hurriyat and its ideology.
