Kupwara: Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) constituency head Lolab Advocate Dawood Bashir Bhat Friday appealed the district administration Kupwara to make necessary measures to prepare for the upcoming winter season.
Bhat urged the district administration Kupwara to ensure proper power supply to the people and to stock up on essential items such as gas cylinders, ration, snow cutters, and other necessities, across all remote and vulnerable areas of the district, particularly in the Machil sector. The snow-bound area remains cut off from the rest of the district during winters due to heavy snowfall.
Furthermore, Bhat emphasized the need for helicopter services in the Machil valley during winters. This, he believes, would be a lifeline for people in emergency situations, especially patients who require immediate medical attention.
He urged the authorities to start the grid station in Diver, to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the villages of Lolab. He demanded the immediate implementation of water supply schemes, as assured by the concerned department to MP Baramulla Er. Rashid during his Lolab visit. “Concerned department assured that these schemes will be started before December but till date these are not started yet” he said.
Bhat requested Deputy Commissioner Kupwara for the provision of free accommodation for students and the general public from Machil Valley who migrate to Kupwara for coaching and other purposes.
He emphasized that R&B Division Lolab should keep men and machinery ready for winter snow clearance for areas like Warnow, Doban, Khurhama, Saiwan, Diver, Lolab, and others so that the people don’t have to face problems like last year.
Bhat also appealed for the distribution of fallen firewood from the concerned depot to the beneficiaries, discouraging deforestation and illegal firewood collection.
