Kupwara: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), after visiting several border villages in of Karnah and Chowkibal areas of district Kupwara affected by recent cross-border shelling, has called on the government to expedite rehabilitation for the displaced and suffering families.
The visiting delegation was led by Abrar Rashid son of incarcerated MP Baramulla Er Rashid included senior AIP leaders Fayaz Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad Wani, Naseer Ahmad Mir, Aijaz Yousuf, Aijaz Ahmad Thakur, Syed Liyaqat, and Raja Waqar, surveyed the extensive damages in villages including Dildar Batpora, Terbuni, Dhani, Gabra, Hajinar, Baghbella and Shamspora.
Residents while interacting with the delegation, as per a party statement, expressed their deep frustration over delays in relief and rehabilitation, with many families still struggling without proper assistance.
The party, as per the statement according to Alfaaz – The Words, lambasted insurance companies for creating unnecessary hurdles and refusing payouts without clear justification. “The insurance companies should honour the claims of affected families on a fastrack basis for early disbursal”, said the party.
