Srinagar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Friday announced the appointment of new District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents across Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the official communication, issued by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, MP, Mir Iqbal Ahmad has been appointed DCC President Baramulla, while Pankaj Dogra will head the Kathua unit. Neeraj Kundan has been named for Jammu (Rural) and Sumeet Magotra for Udhampur.
In the Chenab region, Pyare Lal Shan has been appointed for Kishtwar and Javed Iqbal Lone for Doda, while Mohd Ishar Naik will lead the Ramban unit.
In south Kashmir, Farooq Ahmed Bhat has been appointed DCC President Anantnag, Smt. Shabnam Jan for Shopian, Umer Jaan for Pulwama and Abdul Rashid Lone for Kulgam.
Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir will head the Kupwara unit in north Kashmir, Dr. Audil Farooq Mir has been appointed for Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh for Ganderbal, Er. Muzaffar Dar for Budgam and Adv. Shaikh Farooq for Bandipora.
For the Jammu region, Yogesh Sawhney has been appointed DCC President Jammu (Urban), Ajay Salalia for Reasi, Mohd Shahnawaz Choudhary for Poonch, Ashok Sharma for Rajouri, Sanjeev Sharma for Samba and Sumeet Magotra for Udhampur.
Party sources in the knowhow of things said the newly appointed district presidents are expected to focus on strengthening the partyโs organisational structure. “The move aims to enhance public outreach and mobilising workers at the grassroots level across Jammu and Kashmir, more so to prepare the party for upcoming political and organisational activities,” they told Alfaaz – The Words.
