Kupwara: Days after formally joining back into the Peoples’ Democratic Party, senior politician and former Cabinet Minister Abdul Haq Khan Sunday organised a mega roadshow, alongside several senior party leaders, across Lolab area in Kupwara.

The roadshow, which passed through Khumriyal, Kuligam, Krusan, Sogam, Lalpora and Dever, saw participation of people from different areas.

The party’s senior leaders including former Member of Parliament Mir Fayaz, Spokesperson Tahir Sayed, Adv. Abdul Majeed, Habibullah Bhat, Ghulam Mohuiddin Bhat, Riyaz Ahmad and others also participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Khan said that it was persuasion from the public, especially from Lolab, that he returned to politics. “My return has been possible only because of the persuasion of the people of the district and especially those belonging to my native Lolab,” Khan said, adding, “I had already distanced myself from active politics after the fall of the last coalition government.”

โ€œI am quite satisfied with the fact that I started my political career from here only and with time saw people supporting me,โ€ Abdul Haq Khan said, adding, โ€œNot only here, the people can see how I have worked at different positions in previous governments.โ€

“I am pretty hopeful that PDP will bounce back, with the able support of the public,” Khan, who recently returned to party fold after almost two year break, said.

“Once voted to power, the party will reciprocate to the aspirations of the people and provide them the relief and assistance they have been craving for all these years,” Khan, having served as Minister for Law & Justice, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, said on the occasion.

The other speakers seconding the statements of their senior colleague said that PDP will leave no stone unturned to see the good for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
