A native of Amarghad Sharkoot, Tarathpora Ramhall, Mr. Rather began his teaching journey on July 1, 1989, at Government Primary School Waisa Kawarnar.
Over the years, he served in multiple institutions, leaving behind a trail of excellence, discipline, and profound impact on students and colleagues alike. His final posting was at Government High School Nowpora, Sopore, where he concluded his remarkable career. Known for his unwavering dedication and tireless commitment, Mr. Rather was not only a teacher but also a mentor, guide, and moral compass for generations of learners.
As he bid farewell to his school, emotions ran high. “There were tears in the eyes of students and staff alike,” said one of his colleagues. “And when he saw the love and emotion on their faces, Mr. Rather too couldn’t hold back his tears.”
Upon returning home, he was given a grand welcome by family, neighbors, and well-wishers, who greeted him with flowers, gifts, and garlands, celebrating a life dedicated to education and service.
A grand farewell ceremony was organized in his honor, attended by students, fellow teachers, family members, and local residents. The event featured floral garlands, heartfelt speeches, and moving tributes from all quarters.
Political and non-political organizations also came forward to honor Mr. Rather with tokens of appreciation and glowing commendations.
“Teachers like Mr. Rather are not just educators—they are nation-builders,” remarked one of his colleagues. “His retirement is not an end, but the beginning of a lasting legacy.”
Another staff member fondly remembered, “He was the only teacher who would reach school 30 minutes before the official time and stay long after the school day ended, ensuring everything ran smoothly.”
As Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Rather steps into a new chapter of life, he leaves behind a legacy rooted in discipline, integrity, and selfless service.
His life’s work will remain a guiding light for the educational community and a source of inspiration for generations to come.
