Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said to have booked five militant associates, involved in sub-versive and criminal activities inimical to the security and integrity of the nation, under Public Safety Act.

Identifying the accused as; Nayeem Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Gamandar Panthachowk Srinagar; Faizan Akhter Bhat alias Faizan son of Akhter Hussain Bhat resident of Gousia Colony, Khanyar Srinagar; Mehraj Ud Din Bhat son of Late Mohammad Sidiq Bhat resident of Pandach, 90 FT Road Srinagar; Umar Hamid Sheikh son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh resident of Assar Colony, Hazratbal Srinagar and Suhaib Shafi Baba alias Chamna son of Mohammad Shafi Baba resident of Diwat Walipora, Rainawari Srinagar, a Police Spokesperson said in a statement that the accused persons have been booked after obtaining formal detention orders based on dossiers prepared against them by Srinagar Police.

“Consequently, they have been detained and subsequently lodged in District Jails of Kathua, Udhampur and Kot Balwal Jammu.”

“Pertinent to mention here that many criminal cases have been registered against these individuals. Despite this, they did not mend their ways and after getting bailed out from courts, they were brazenly involved in criminal and subversive activities prejudicial to the interests of the Nation,” said the Spokesperson.
