‘3 Civilians Killed After Heavy Shelling In Poonch Sector’

Jammu: At least three people were killed after Pakistan resorted to heavy shelling in the Poonch Sector on Wednesday.

News agency GNS quoted officials as saying that during overnight heavy shelling by Pakistan in the Poonch area, three people were killed and also forest office Poonch are destroyed.

The deceased have been identified as Mohd Adil son of Shaheen Noor, Saleem Hussain son of Altaf Hussain and Ruby Kour wife of Shallu Singh.

“During the night of 06-07 May 2025, Pakistan Army resorted to arbitrary firing including Artillery shelling from posts across the Line of Control and IB opposite J&K,” army said in a media statement.

“Three innocent civilians lost their lives in indiscriminate firing/shelling. Indian Army are responding in proportionate manner.”

“Meanwhile, in the backdrop of Pahalgam attack, India during early hours of Wednesday has striked inside PoK and Pakistan at various places against terror sites,” reads the statement.

In a statement a Defence spokesman said that altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted.

“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution. These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable. There will be detailed briefing on ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, later today,” the statement reads.
