Kupwara: Residents of Batpora Ganie Mohalla in Lalpora, district Kupwara, are facing severe hardships as they remain without electricity for the past 15 days during the holy month of Ramadan.
The prolonged power outage has caused distress among the locals, who are struggling with daily activities, particularly during Sehri and Iftar.
Frustrated by the inaction of the authorities, the residents staged a protest, demanding immediate intervention from the Power Development Department (PDD) and the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara.
They urged officials to repair the damaged transformer at the earliest to restore electricity in the area.
“We have been suffering in darkness for two weeks. Our children cannot study, and our elders are facing immense difficulties. Despite repeated requests, the authorities have not taken any action.”
“We appeal to the administration to address our issue on priority,” said a protesting resident.
The residents warned that if their grievances are not addressed soon, they will be forced to intensify their protest.
They have called upon the concerned officials to take immediate steps to ensure the restoration of power supply before the situation worsens further.
