Baramulla: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Baramulla on Friday organised a Lok Adalat, during which an insurance-related consumer dispute was amicably resolved.
In a significant outcome of the proceedings, an insurance claim amounting to ₹8.5 lakh was awarded to a complainant from Sopore whose shop had suffered extensive damage in a fire incident. The District Commission’s President Peerzada Qousar Hussain in presence of Member Nyla Yaseen, formally handed over the compensation cheque to the beneficiary.
The settlement through the Lok Adalat ensured swift and effective redressal of the dispute, providing timely financial relief to the affected party and avoiding prolonged legal proceedings.
Reiterating its commitment to consumer welfare, the Commission President Peerzada Qousar Hussain said that such initiatives strengthen public trust in the consumer redressal mechanism by ensuring prompt, fair, and transparent resolution of disputes.
